change hurts

I'm only at the beginning of the beginning of art journaling :-)
That said, I found the start and the development of this 'spread' quite exciting.
To start with I simply used leftover paint from another background and glued down the butterfly border that was still sitting on my table. Now butterflies, although most beautiful creatures, aren't my usually preferred or favorite images, for no special reason. Of course I have a few stamps, though. So I played around a bit.
But what then?
In doubt, I usually look for a quote. In this case I've been looking for a different quote. Mostly I find butterfly quotes a bit 'cheesy' (no offense meant here), kind of ideal world-like, which I don't have and which I don't live in. I am and have always been struggling with who I am and why I'm different from most people around. Plus, I'm not keen on changes and I'm not really able to cope well with them.
In the end I came up with this

The quote is written on the caterpillar's body, it's not reallly recognisable:
"Why is a caterpillar wrapped in silk when it changes into a butterfly? So the other caterpillars can't hear the screams. Change hurts."
(Rory Miller)

and another one, on the opposite side:
"Just like the butterfly, I too will awaken in my own time."
(Deborah Chaskin)

Have a great weekend everyone.
Hugs, Suzanne xxx

  2. Love your pages and what you wrote and the quotes you used spoke volumes to me on a personal level. Nice to know I am not the only one who feels like that. I am new to art journalling, have the stuff but am yet to take the leap and have a go!!
